According to Bloomberg, in a series of documents filed with the state of Texas, Samsung proposed that it is considering building 11 chip factories in Texas over the next 20 years, with a total investment of nearly $200 billion.

Previously, Samsung has announced that it will spend 17 billion to build an advanced semiconductor factory in Tyler, Texas. It is reported that Samsung's proposed construction plan will also be carried out in the state. Two of them are being considered in Austin, Texas, and the other nine are in Tyler, Texas.

The report pointed out that Samsung proposed the idea of expanding 11 fabs in Texas, which will help strengthen the US semiconductor capacity to avoid sudden supply cuts.

However, Samsung did not commit to building these production bases, but stressed that this "hypothetical proposal" could change under various circumstances. Even if Samsung decides to proceed with the investment plan, the new plant will not start operating until 2034. Samsung revealed that part of the reason for the plan was to win financial subsidies from the Texas government before the plan expires this year.

Texas has announced that it will provide large businesses with a 10-year property tax break in exchange for local job creation. But the program ends on December 31. Chipmakers including NXP Semiconductors in the Netherlands and Texas Instruments in the U.S. have filed applications with the government, according to the Texas document.

According to a Samsung statement, there are currently no specific construction plans, but the Section 313 petition to Texas is part of Samsung's long-term planning process to assess the feasibility of potentially building more plants in the United States.
